I illustrated a series of playground mural wall wrap-arounds for NZ design agency HEYYOU for their client, Mitre 10 MEGA. The very first mural was designed for the new MEGA store in Silverdale and incorporated local landmarks and surroundings and set the basis for next three murals, Backyard, Beach scene and New Zealand Native forest.
Each mural was designed as a discovery piece of art, in which the kiddies could interact with the various elements by seeing if they could spot them in a typical New Zealand setting. Examples of these are the Moa hiding behind the tree, the Pukeko peering out from the greenery, the hungry snail and the inquisitive weta.
The style of illustration is colourful, with simple, quirky elements to make them appealing and eye catching, and based around the Mitre 10 brand colours. The three murals... Backyard, Beach and NZ Native Forest can be adjusted to fit around all the equipment and surroundings dependent on the size and scale each playground.
